President's Message

William F. Marshall, III, CFI
NCIAAI President

Flames

November 2009

Dear Membership,

I would first like to thank you for the opportunity to serve you in this position as President of the North Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators for the 2009 to 2010 term.

Our chapter has grown extensively since 1975 when it was first started and we are now close to 800 members. Our members come from all walks of life in the fire investigation and fire service community. We are insurance people; private investigators; law enforcement officers; fire fighters; fire marshals; attorneys and we all have a passion for understanding fire science.

I now ask, what can I, as your President, do for you?
What can your Board of Directors and Committees do for you?

A) Do you want the best training available to you that this country can offer?

B) Do you want people representing you that have the same goals as you?

C) Do you believe in professionalism and integrity?

D) Do you believe that change is good when the direction of the change makes you better at what you do and is better for the entire membership?

I hope that each and every one of you answered – “YES” to A - D.
What do you want to get out of the $15.00 a year that you spend to be a member of this Chapter of the NCIAAI?  I want to hear from you. If you have ideas, suggestions or any comments that would help the membership of this organization as a whole, email me at CFIBILL3@yahoo.com and share your thoughts.

Every “new” leader comes into a job or position with “fresh” ideas and goals. I am no different. I have lots of ideas and goals for this chapter and things I would like reviewed during my time as your President. I have made some changes in personnel in our committees and added a few new committees. See the “Committees” banner on our website.  Several of our committees have policies and procedures that they are required to follow to operate in this chapter for all of us. I hope the people that I have asked the Board to approve to work on ‘your’ committees will do what is required of them for the betterment of the entire chapter population.

Finally I am honored to be working with a GREAT Board of Directors and Committee Members that want to give you their best.  Remember these individuals are all volunteers working for you and they are the future of our chapter as well.

If you are a member and are not on the Yahoo Group email list, please get in touch with the Membership Director. I will produce a monthly “Members Need to Know” report that will be coming out over the Yahoo Group email list. Did you see the October Report?

Thank you for your time,

Bill Marshall
